As a charity Opportunities Zambia aims to support families in Zambia via education, feeding programme and the development and support of local businesses.
Since January 9 of the sewing ladies have graduated and we gave them their machines and have replaced with 9 new ones. In February we opened a new school Kapampa in the rural outskirts of Lusaka that was built over 10 years ago and never used. Vincent has done it up and we have started with 50 children and 2 teachers which we are funding their food and the teachers salaries. The school will grow quickly if we can finance it.
This is Miracle who we met in 2019 and he is doing really well, having physio several times a week, extra peanut butter every week which has really helped him get stronger and we are having a walker made to his specific needs which will help him now that he is attending school.
previous update
We are about to leave Kabanana School as it is now as near ‘complete’ as we can make it and we are setting up a chicken farm that will in future fund the feeding program to enable us to start again somewhere else. This is the school now - when we started it had mud floors, no water or electricity and no tables! We have added 2 classrooms one for sewing and one for carpentry/woodwork, a loo block and wall with gates all round the school to make it a much safer community. We also feed hungry children in the surrounding community, as well as an orphanage for over 200 children.
Thank you for your help in achieving all this. Sukie You can find out more about the work of Opportunities Zambia via their website - www.opportunitieszambia.org
